His first Bali project was a commission to create a series of paintings, one for each of the bedrooms of the newly renovated villas at Four Seasons Resort in Jimbaran Bay. Marcus came up with a concept that was bright, minimalist and contemporary, with at least one subtle reference, in each painting, to the classic imagery of the Island. This series encapsulated something of the soul of Bali, yet it was fresh and completely different from any other style of artwork already present here.
