Darwin calling. The new owners of this iconic Art Deco building were changing it from Commonwealth Bank to Bar. Conversation revealed that when the 70's suspended ceiling was removed, beautiful hand crafted fluted column tops were exposed. Funky elegance was requested, so this time the 5 hour flight across Australia's central desert landed me in the cultural melting pot of tropical Darwin to view and discuss design possibilities, colours  and procedures with the owner, his  architect and decorator.  Six weeks later and armed with gold leaf, silver leaf and copper leaf  I was back with my assistant gilding from dramatic Darwin dawn to fabulous Darwin Sunset on the far northern tip of Australia. The high burnish copper leaf, silver leaf and gold leaf gilding glows elegantly during restaurant day trading, lighting spectacularly in the night Bar and Night Club hours.
